Omagh woman becomes Prince's Trust Young Ambassador thumbnailTwenty three very special young people from all over Northern Ireland, including Clair Galbraith from Omagh (pictured second row, third from left), successfully completed training to become Prince's Trust Young Ambassadors.

An Omagh woman is one of 23 'very special young people' from all over Northern Ireland who successfully completed training to become Prince's Trust Young Ambassadors. Each of the participants have positively changed their lives through Prince's Trust programmes and now want to encourage others to do the same.
Omagh's Clair Galbraith said of her experience: "I was unemployed and a single mother. I felt my dream of opening my own beauty salon was slipping away. The Prince's Trust gave me a grant and a low cost loan to start my business. They give me great support when I need it and I have a business mentor, who helps me with any queries I have.
“By being a Young Ambassador I hope to make people more aware of the work of The Prince's Trust and what they can offer to young people when they think they have no opportunities for a brighter future."
The group of young people took part in this special training and personal development course to share their experiences of the Trust with others and help to make a difference to other young people in Northern Ireland.
As well as training in awareness and decision-making, they had the opportunity to develop their existing skills, while gaining new ones, such as presentation and leadership skills.
As a result participants will gain a respected reference from The Prince's Trust. The two days of activities took place at the Derrynoid Centre in Draperstown.
On completion of the course, the Young Ambassadors are ready to speak at meetings and conferences about the work of the Trust and could potentially influence new supporters and young people to come on board.
As the Young Ambassador Scheme is funded by the Electoral Commission, the participants were treated to a special visit to Stormont Parliament Buildings, where they were given a guided tour which included the Great Hall and Assembly Chamber.
Arlene Jackson, The Prince's Trust, said: "This Young Ambassadors training programme was a great success. These young people have improved every aspect of their lives as a result of the programmes provided by The Prince's Trust. Now they will have a chance to share their experiences with others and can play an important role within The Trust by helping us to recruit young people in need and potential supporters."
