Brave little Lily-Belle to give up her lovely locks for charity

Thursday, 30 March 2017

A BRAVE little girl from Dromore is to donate 15 inches of her hair for charity, while also raising money for a great cause.

Eight-year-old Lily-Belle, who is a pupil at Dromore Primary School, has been growing her hair for over four years and is now just a month away from having her long brown locks cut and donated to the Little Princess Trust - which will be used to form part of a wig for a child who may have lost their hair as a result of treatment for illness - as well as raising funds for CLIC Sargent in Northern Ireland.

"I used to cycle a lot to raise money for numerous children's charities, but due to a personal injury I'm not able to any longer," her father, Andrew, said.

"Now that I'm unable to cycle, Lily-Belle decided that she wanted to raise money herself and it was her idea to have her hair cut to help two worthy causes.

"She's a high-spirited girl but it may be a little emotional on the day when she has to finally have her hair cut as she has been growing it since she was four-years-old."

Lily-Belle has entered the Little Princess Trust's 'Real Life Rapunzel' competition to see which fundraiser has the longest hair and the winner is announced after tomorrow's (Thursday) deadline. She will likely have her cut at CastleCourt Shopping Centre, Belfast, next month.

She has already raised around 550 but is targeting a total of 1,000. You can find more information on both charities by clicking onto www. or
