'I had experience of lifetime' says Tyrone 'Rose'

'I had experience of lifetime' says Tyrone 'Rose' thumbnail Tyrone 'Rose', Niamh McElduff.

NIAMH Mc Elduff, this year's 2017 Tyrone Rose sadly did not make it through the preliminary stages of competition to get to the televised stages of The Rose of Tralee in Co. Kerry, which is now in its 58th year.

Winning the prestigious 'Tyrone Rose' competition alone is something which every girl would have at some stage growing up dreamed of - and for Niamh it became a reality! The Tyrone selection night consisted of the audience getting to know each 'Rose' by a series of questions. Then onto the talent stage, Niamh chose to sing whereas other girls sang, danced or played an instrument.

Following becoming Tyrone Rose, Niamh then had to embark in various fundraising events for her chosen charity, Termonmaguirc Friendly Care in Carrickmore.

A week of activities started from August 16 in Co. Kerry bringing all 64 Roses together. An array of street entertainment, carnival, live concerts, theatre, circus, markets, funfair, fireworks and 'Rose Parades' took place.

The infamous Dome is where the televised shows took place over two nights on Monday and last night (Tuesday)

Although initally disappointed that she did not make the live television finals, Niamh has had "the experience of a lifetime. I wasn't disappointed in myself as I gave it everything I had and remained myself throughout.

"Like anything else on TV, there are many different reasons why people make the televised finals and 10 minutes on RTÉ is very small in comparison to the overall experience that we have had in Tralee as a group. I have seen and done some amazing things that I would never have had the opportunity to do and met 63 amazing Irish women from all corners of the globe. It's been a once-in-a lifetime experience that we will never forget and I've made friends for life."

Niamh will continue her duties as Tyrone Rose until May next year.
