Mallards remain winless after Swifts defeat. thumbnail Former Ballinamallard player Ryan Mayse scored for Dungannon Swifts against his old club.

Goals from Ryan Harpur and Ryan Mayse were enough to earn Dungannon Swifts a derby win of Ballinamallard United in the Danske Bank Premier League.

While the Swifts made it back to backwins, Ballinamallard are still searching for their first victory of the campaign.

Mayse, who has been one of the Swifts' stand out performers, threatened early on when he fired over after latching on to a long ball from David Armstrong.

Peter McMahon was next to have a go at goal, seeing his effort deflected over after a Paul McElroy corner was cleared to him.

Ballinamallard then threatened just shy of the half hour mark, Jay McCartney finding space and taking aim, but stand-in goalkeeper Stuart Addis tipped the ball onto the crossbar.

Just when it looked as if the first half would finish level, Dungannon struck for the lead as Peter McMahon's shot was blocked but the rebound fell kindly to Ryan Harpur and the Dungannon captain made no mistake, firing home the opener.

Dungannon continued to create chances in the second half, with Terry Fitzpatrick forcing a fingertip save from Richard Brush in the away goal.

And Ryan Mayse then took centre stage with 20 minutes left on the clock. After a sweeping move, Mayse drove forward and curled home a fine effort to round off the win against his former club.

Speaking after the game, Mallards boss Gavid Dykes commented: "Very disappointed with the goal just before half-time. I thought we were well in the game. It was a poor goal, we didn't clear our lines right, didn't deal with the throw-in right, and we end up 1-0 down"

Second half we pushed on, were probably the better side up until they scored, but probably didn't create enough to be truthful.

"Compared to where we were, there's been positives, and it gives us something to build on next week."
