‘Billy’s Bud Fest’ event to celebrate public support to Caldwell family

Thursday, 7 September 2017

Billy Caldwell's story has been heard by all, he has been the first person to be prescribed medical cannabis by the National Health Service, due to his suffering of the life-threatening condition, intractable epilepsy.

His mother, Charlotte, has become triumphant in pushing for the legalisation for many years, acheiving the goal of Billy becoming seizure free, and he has been for more than 300 days now.

To celebrate the change for the better of Billy's health, a small celebration has been put in place for this Saturday,  to recognise all those people that have helped "Keep Billy Alive". The event is 'Billy's Bud Fest' which is taking place at the Bud Cottage in Castlederg.

Due to the high interest in the event, politicians and doctors from both North and South will be attending the festival. Charlotte said: "I will continue my quest to have Medicinal Cannabis legalised. I am very proud to say, I have the honour of working closely with our politicians and doctors both North and South to hopefully achieve this sooner rather than later".

The event will also mark the first time that 'Billy's Bud' is available for consumers to purchase. As well as this "there will be over 50 market stalls attending the festival so we hope there will be something for everyone. Additionally, there will be entertainment provided all day, including live music, games and bouncy castles for the kids", Charlotte continued.

Following the event, Billy's Bud CBD oil will be available in retail dispensaries from late September, which will be a huge relief to Billy's mother, Charlotte. Taking to social media, Charlotte issued a statement saying: "I have chosen to make this statement for all of you people that have offered your unconditional love and support to Billy and myself, for the last 12 years. Since myself and Billy announced our incredible news, that Billy's Bud CBD oil is available in our country, we have been subjected to blackmail and extortion from a certain individual from Northern Ireland. I have been left no choice but to pass all relevant communications to the PSNI. And seek legal advice. As a single mummy to Billy, and Billy's Bud Ltd in its infancy, under no circumstances could I meet this unreasonable request."

Charlotte added: "Following this statement I will be refraining from making any further comment. Anyone who wishes to speak to me about the matter is more than welcome to sit down with me in person at Billy's Bud Fest, at which time I will be more than happy to discuss everything from the last 12 years. Once again I say with sincerity that everyone is welcome with open arms to Billy's Bud Fest and even more so we welcome everyone to get behind Billy, myself, politicians and our doctors in our national campaign to Legalise Medicinal Cannabis.

"The offical launch of Billy's Bud CBD will be coming in late 2017. CBD saved Billy's life and can have a tremendous effect in you and your loved ones' lives also.

"We are very much looking forward to meeting everyone and we hope you all have a great day with us this Saturday."
