Despite the Jack and Jill playschool premises in Plumbridge being  destroyed in the recent flooding, the children are not to miss out for long as temporary accommodation has been found.

All furnishings and paperwork are gone for good, but a great strength of community spirit has shone through.

The playschool, which has 12 children attending, was due to open Friday past, but has now obtained temporary accomodation thanks to the Glenelly Trust Assosiation which will now open on Monday, September 11.

It has been a busy time in order to ensure the children get back to normality as soon as possible. Donations from people over a wide area will ensure that toys, books and other provision will be available for the children.

Plumbridge businessman, John Pinkerton, also donated a shed of his for people's donated items to be stored until the temporary premises were sorted.

Schools and parishes came together as well as schools from as far away as  Co.Down phoning and sending their best wishes.

Playgroup leader, Yvonne McGlinchey, said she can't thank the commitee of Jack & Jill enough.

"Everyone who helped was outstanding,"  she said.

"The local district council has been amazing. They have provided us with a site and planning permission for a mobile classroom, which will open in November for the children," said Yvonne. "Glenelly Football Club also offered us two sites for the playschool, which is completely overwhelming. It's been a long few weeks but we are all starting to see light at the end of the tunnel and thank-you so much to everyone that has helped us out in any way!"
