Augher woman to take over the helm at Omagh Academy

The new principal of Omagh Academy says she is looking forward to taking up her new position of principal at the local grammar school.
Mrs Ruth Maxwell, who will be in place shortly, succeeds the outgoing principal, Mr Keith Hill, who has been in the position for the past 12 years.
Mrs Maxwell, a native of the village of Dyan which is near Caledon, is married with two teenage sons and currently lives in the Augher area.
She is a past pupil of Dungannon High School for Girls and Royal School Dungannon. After graduating from Queens' University, Belfast, where she achieved joint honours economics and accounting, and obtained an MSc in education management and PQH(NI).
She took up a position with Wallace High School, Lisburn, where she taught economics, business studies, geography and was assistant examinations officer.
She is joining the Omagh school from Enniskillen Royal Grammar School where she was vice-principal and played a key role in the successful planning, organisation and launch of the new amalgamated school. The position also included special responsibility for pastoral care and timetable duties. She also held other various positions of responsibility including head of Key Stage 5/exams officer and taught economics, business studies and careers.
