Somme Fallen remembered at Omagh ceremony thumbnail

The Omagh District LOL No 11 held its annual parade and wreath-laying ceremony to mark the 102nd anniversary of the Battle of the Somme in excellent weather conditions in Omagh on Monday night.
The proceedings of the evening began with Sisters, brethren and band members being formed up under the direction of Cllr Errol Thompson, past district secretary and public relations officer of Omagh District LOL No 11. They then paraded the short distance from Omagh Orange Hall to the Cenotaph for the wreathlaying ceremony.
The call to worship was by Rev James Porter, district chaplain, who also took the Scripture reading., while the Ode to the Fallen was recited by David Swann, deputy district master of Omagh District LOL No 11, and a two minute's silence was observed.
Last Post and Reveille were sounded by bugler, Mark Kelly, a member of Murley Silver Band.
The wreath was laid by Andrew Monteith (LOL 674 senior member) and Jake Cunningham (LOL 674 district youngest member). The Lament was played by piper, Richard McGonigle of Edenderry Pipe Band, during the wreathlaying, while the Kohima Epitaph was by William Moffitt, of Blacksessiagh LOL 226.
