Lady Captain's Day takes centre stage at Fintona

Fintona Golf Club's lady captain, Angela Montague, hosted a wonderful day for the Fintona golfers and those from visiting clubs. The weather was kind and the course was in great condition.
After golf the ladies were treated to a wonderful afternoon tea with lots of home baking and a glimpse of the lovely prizes which were displayed elegantly on the prize table. The club house was looking great and was adorned beautifully by an array of lovely floral displays.
In the evening Angela welcomed her friends, family and golfers to the club house and  after a delicious meal Angela thanked all who had helped make her day such a success. She also thanked the caterer Tony and his staff, Conrad and the bar staff, greenkeepers Gerard and Davey, the cleaner Lavena, the office secretary Patricia, the gardening committee, the ladies' committee and club members for their help not only on the day but throughout the year.
Donations on the day were made to Friends of the Cancer Centre, a charity close to the  lady vaptain's heart.
Then it was on to the presentation of the prizes.
The young Emma Jobb had a runaway success and claimed first prize with an impressive 43 points.  Emma said she was delighted to win and congratulated Angela on a very successful day.

After the presentation was over a great social night followed, with dancing to Mickey's disco but it was early to bed for some as The Challenge Cup team were embarking on the quarter finals of the ILGU championships the next day at Fortwilliam.
Men's section
There was very high scoring in the Moffitt and Robinson sponsored competition last Sunday with John O'Neill winning with 46 points and Aiden Wilson second with 45. Ignatius Daly was third with 43. Full results and report next week.
“We continue this week with the Flying Vet competition next Sunday sponsored by Fairgreen Vetinary," said a spokesperson. "Time sheets are available on BRS now for the next few competitions including Captain's Day so get booking.
“Good luck to Davy and his team next Saturday as they try to reach the final of the Phair Cup and also to the Robert's Cup team who will soon contest the second leg of their semi-final against Newtownstewart."
