MP condemns ‘summer upsurge’ in anti-social behaviour in Omagh

Thursday, 9 August 2018

West Tyrone MP., Órfhlaith Begley, has condemned anti-social behaviour in Omagh.
In a statement yesterday (Tuesday) she said: "I have been contacted by residents in Strule Park and other surrounding areas in Omagh regarding an upsurge on anti-social behaviour over the summer months.
"There is a feeling among residents that a small number of individuals are engaging in anti-social behaviour against the local community. I am aware of criminal damage being caused to residents' houses where young children were inside the property which is completely unacceptable.
"I have raised this issue with the PSNI who have reassured me that they will increase their visible presence in the area".
She encouraged local residents to be vigilant and if they were a victim of crime then they should report this to the police.
"I will also be calling on other statutory bodies to help tackle the scourge of anti-social behaviour," she said.
