Bakery chain Greggs set to open in Omagh

Thursday, 9 August 2018

The popular bakery chain Greggs is set to open in Omagh.
The largest bakery chain in the UK, Greggs specialises in savoury products such as pasties, sausage rolls and sandwiches and has 15 shops in Northern Ireland.
It is believed the latest shop will be based at the Showgrounds Retail Park, in a move expected to bring with it 1m of investment to the town.
A spokesperson for Greggs said: "We can confirm we are interested in bringing Greggs to Omagh and we will clarify shop location and opening date as soon as possible."
However, Dromore engineering firm Kenwells, said yesterday afternoon that they were carrying out the construction of the unit with Greggs as the tenants.
Greggs plc has also submitted a planning application to erect shop signage at the same location.
The current construction project for the Omagh store will see three car parking spaces sacrificed. However the plan provides for the construction of 17 new spaces as compensation, according to a report in the Belfast Telegraph.
It will leave the Showgrounds Retail Park with 368 parking spaces.
