Thursday, 8 June 2017

PLANS are well underway for Fintona Credit Union's 50-mile Charity Cycle event, which takes places on Sunday, June 18, as part of the branch's 50th Anniversary celebrations.

All proceeds from the event are going to the Palliative Care Ward at Omagh Hospital.

Registration forms for the event are now available from the local Credit Union offices, or cyclists can register in the Credit Union office from 8.30am on the day of the cycle itself.

The 50-mile cycle event leaves from outside the Credit Union office on Main Street at 10am and will go via Dromore, the Mini Burns, Lack, Ederney, Kesh, Lisnarick, Trory, Ballinamallard, Kilskeery, Trillick, through Dromore again and back into Fintona.

There will also be a shorter approximately 20-mile route and that will leave at 10:30am from the Credit Union Office and will go via Dromore towards Trillick turning off at the Harp Stores and heading back towards Fintona.

There is an entry fee of 10 for the 50-mile event and a 5 fee for the shorter route. Refreshments will be available at the half way stage in the 50-mile cycle event and there will be refreshments available for all participants in St. Patrick's Hall, Main Street, afterwards.

John Murray, public relations officer with Fintona Credit Union, said that there has been plenty of interest in the event so far.

"We're hoping for a great turnout on the day so that cyclists can have an enjoyable cycle as well as raising as much money as possible for the Palliative Care Ward," said Mr. Murray.

Further details about the event are available by contacting the Credit Union office on 02882841010 or on its Facebook page.
