Cyclists set to pedal for medals in the 2017 Tour of Omagh

Thursday, 27 July 2017

FINAL preparations are underway for next week's SPAR Tour of Omagh, now in its eighth year.
The race, hailed as Mid Ulster's premier cycling event, will take place over three days, from Friday to Sunday, July 28 to 30.
Cyclists from counties throughout Ireland will take on the challenge with hopes of being named the overall winner. Previous years' winners have gone on to compete in the international 'An Post Ras'. This is a globally renowned, gruelling challenge that takes place in Ireland and attracts amateur and professional cyclists alike.
Recreational cycling has been growing in popularity over recent years with both men and women.
This trend shows no signs of slowing, with organisers noting that pre-event interest levels were at an all-time high.
Race director and Omagh Wheelers chairman, Stevie McKenna, spoke on behalf of the club saying;
“We're delighted to once again have SPAR on board as our title sponsor. Their continued support helps us to deliver a unique event that is enjoyed by individuals and cycling clubs alike.
“The Tour of Omagh race has really gone from strength to strength over the years and we're hopeful that 2017 will be better than ever before. As with any race of this scale, there are aspects that competitors will undoubtedly find challenging. However, we're confident they'll give their all and it would be fantastic to see some new race records set in 2017."
Rider sign-on is between 3pm to 4.30pm on Friday, July 28, at Drumragh Sarsfields GAC, 85 Clanabogan Road, Omagh, Co. Tyrone BT78 1SL.
The race will start at 5.30pm sharp. Visit more information.
