Close finish as Bernie McQuade clinches Lady President's Day honours at Omagh

SATURDAY at Omagh Golf Club was Lady President Patricia (Patsy) Harkin's big day. The course was in excellent condition thanks to Richard and his greenkeeping staff and the kind weather made for a great day of golf.

Low handicapper, Bernie McQuade, playing off seven began with a shaky start, but soon got into her stride. Two birdies and a par at the 18th secured her place as winner on countback with a fantastic 40 points. She was closely followed by on-form player Phil McKenna also returning 40 points.

At the evening prizegiving, the lady president thanked everyone who helped make her day special. She expressed her thanks to her committee, Mary McBride, for providing the wonderful floral arrangements, Joan Poyntz for dressing the chairs, the bar staff and to Lorna and her catering staff who provided a splendid meal.

After the presentation of a fabulous array of prizes the ladies continued to enjoy their evening with a disco.
