Castlederg’s very own marathon man Pat O’Loughlin is looking forward to participatng in his 38th Dublin Marathon. At the tender age of 81, Pat will take on the marathon this Sunday in support of MS research, despite having been recently knocked back by a virus.

While ill-health is putting a question mark over his completion of the marathon, Pat is determined to participate along with ‘Team Pat’, consisting of his son Ciaran, running partner Jenny McMenamin and Jenny’s  daughter Rachel.

To date Pat has raised over £60,000 from around 70 marathons to help fund MS research and has a special interest in myelin repair research, and he has been busy continuing his fundraising efforts this year.

“I’ve been laid up with a virus recently, so haven’t been able to train, but I am still hoping to take part," Pat said. "We always receive great support from the local community and I want to thank them for that."
