Police in Omagh have recovered a large quantity of fireworks at the Meetinghouse Road area of Sixmilecross on Halloween night, Wednesday October 31.
Sergeant Hamill said: “Officers seized over 250 fireworks that would require a licence to use discarded in the area. The fireworks were removed and taken away for destruction.
“Halloween should be a safe time of year for everyone and whilst most people are responsible, there are incidents of misuse of fireworks.
“Young people in particular need to remember that fireworks are made from explosive material and if misused, can cause serious and life changing injuries. Parents and guardians should be aware of the whereabouts of their children and what they are doing."
He added: “The law regarding fireworks is clear. It is illegal to possess, sell, handle or use most categories of fireworks if you do not have a licence. And you can be fined up to £5,000 for breaking the law.”
