A charity coffee morning in memory of the late Kyra McKinley has raised an astonishing £10,799.05 for the Northern Ireland Air Ambulance Charity.

Held at Gillygooley Orange Hall on Saturday, the event saw scores of families and friends turn out to donate to an essential charity cause.

Following the tragic loss of their beloved daughter and sister Kyra as a result of a road traffic accident in August, Raymond, Valerie, Alex and Glenn are on a fundraising mission for the Northern Ireland Air Ambulance, which they credit with allowing them to spend an extra three days with Kyra before her passing.

According to Kyra’s sister, Alex, the amount raised from Saturday’s coffee morning will keep the air ambulance operational for two days.

“We are astonished and overwhelmed by the amount the coffee morning raised,” she explained. “Over ten thousand will keep the air ambulance going for two days, which will help save lives. We will always be grateful to the Air Ambulance.

“Overall, we had no idea the event would raise so much. Donations were small on the day but it was the sheer volume of people that helped us raise so much. We are totally overwhelmed.”
