Independent councillor John McCluskey provided the first shock of the day in the Fermanagh and Omagh District Council elections when he displaced outgoing Sinn Fein councillor Brian McCaffrey.

The 75-year-old, from Rosslea, has been campaigning on a range of issues including health cuts in the Fermanagh area.

It was the first district electoral area of the day to be complete and it came shortly before 9pm.

All the other outgoing candidates were re-elected. They are: Paul Robinson, DUP; Victor Warrington, UUP; Thomas O'Reilly, Sinn Fein; Sheamus Greene, Sinn Fein; Garbhan McPhilips, SDLP.
