Castlederg United....1

NFC Kesh....6

CASTLEDERG United lined-out for their first game in Division One of the Fermanagh and Western Football League on Saturday.

Since their formation back in 2021, the Derg outfit has steadily risen through the ranks securing two promotions to reach the top tier of local football but their first game against NFC Kesh proved to be a disappointing outing, falling to a 6-1 home defeat.

Castlederg took an early lead against the run of play through Adam Young, but it was Kesh who soon moved through the gears producing some great attacking football to secure the win and all three points on the opening day of the new season.

A brace from talisman Ryan Campbell and goals apiece from Grant Ellis, Josh Flack, Nathan Cashel and an own goal from the home side sealed the win for Kesh.

The club has recruited Marty Gormley as coach for the upcoming season with the Strabane man bringing a wealth of experience.

Manager Dylan Russell said: "When I heard Marty was available for this season I wasted no time on jumping at the opportunity.

"He brings a high level of knowledge and experience on board which is exactly what we need."
