THE sun gods were definitely all well aligned for Fintona Golf Club captain, Chris McMenamin when he held his Captain's Prize competition over Friday and Saturday.

The weather was fine on Friday. It rained heavily overnight and was fine again by the time the Saturday players started going out.

The captain had a very busy two days. He was there to greet all the players as they arrived, again at midway through, and when they finished.

The course was in great condition and the scores soon started to appear, and increase.

By Saturday afternoon the hard luck stories were swirling around but it was Declan Corry who carded the winning score of 43 points, winning by the narrowest of margins.

The lady president, Joan Quinn, was second with 36, and Carmel Colgan claimed third prize with 35 points, a very closely contested affair.

Chris presented his fine array of prizes later in the evening to the delighted recipients.

He thanked all the relevant people who made his two days such a memorable and successful experience for him.
