Success for Ballantine brothers at Newtown

BROTHERS Scott and Stuart Ballantine shared the honours in Saturday’s GA Adams Open Stableford at Newtownstewart Golf Club.

Scott won the overall prize with 44 off 13 while older brother Stuart took the Gross prize with 33 Gross points.

There were divisional prizes for Reece Killen, Brian O’Kane and Oscar Nelson.

Declan Devine won Sunday’s Open Stroke competition sponsored by Francis McGlynn Motors. He had a 64 Nett off 27.

Stuart Ballantine playing off two, won the Gross with a 74.

Divisional winners were Terry Quinn, Gareth McGonigle and Andrew McCain.

The ladies competition this week was Play In Pink Stableford sponsored by Brona Slevin.

Jacqueline McDaid took first prize with 39 points off 24. Steph Rennie won the Gross prize with 17 Gross points.

There were section wins for Brona Slevin, Joyce Thompson and Dympna McNamee while Janette Beattie won the 9-hole with 22 points off 17.

In the penultimate week of the Ultra qualifiers, congratulations go to Christopher Wilson, Christopher Kemps and Jason Adams who all qualified for the ULTRA Charity Finals Day.

This week is Mr President, Geoffrey Nixon’s, week so on Thursday the club has the ladies competing for the President’s Prize followed by the big day on Saturday.

Sunday’s competition is the WW Tyres Open Stableford.
