CREEVAN Presbyterian Church, on the Loughmuck Road, was flooded when water from nearby Creevy Burn overflowed and flooded the church up to nine inches deep in places.

Members of the congregation spent hours on Sunday cleaning after flood, which has revealed damaged carpets and potential damage to the floors.

John Nevin, Clerk of Session, in Creevan Presbyterian Church, said: "There was about nine inches of water in the church, and the service on Sunday had to be cancelled and moved to our sister church in Fintona.

"On Sunday morning from about 9am, three members of the congregation started to clean to stop permanent damage being caused and to remove the mud and silt. The church is indebted to them for their sterling efforts.

"We will now be working to get the church back up and ready for the resumption of services in September. In some ways this happened at a fortuitous time, as during the month of August we worship at our sister church in Fintona. We will be working back to get the services back up and going for September.
