TWO Omagh Academy pupils, Teóma Mills and Ellie McClintock were overall winners in the 2023 Coronation Year Schools Bible Project competition.
The competition receives entries from schools all over the United Kingdom and the overall prizewinners get the opportunity to travel to London for a prize-giving ceremony. To enter, pupils are required to write an eye-witness account of an incident in the life of Christ.
Teóma was awarded joint first prize and Ellie was awarded joint fourth prize. Both pupils, their parents, and Mrs Lisa Beacom, head of religious studies, had their travel expenses paid to attend the prize-giving ceremony in Mary Sumner House, Westminster.
Before the ceremony, all the prize winners and guests had a tour of Westminster Abbey to see where the Coronation took place. The pupils also won money for the Religious Studies Department in school.
