ON Sunday, August 17, Aine Walsh from Ederney, soared to new heights, literally, as she completed a 15,000-foot skydive in Coleraine to raise funds for a new community hall in her hometown.

The 21-year-old originally set a target of £1,500, but thanks to overwhelming local support, she raised an impressive £2,720, nearly doubling her goal.

The weather on the day was perfect, adding to what Aine described as an unforgettable experience.

“It was a very good experience. The adrenaline rush afterwards was amazing,” she said. “The feeling was unbelievable. I was like, wow, I actually did this.”

Aine expressed gratitude for the community spirit that helped make her jump such a success.

“People coming together and everyone putting the money together towards my skydive, it was nice to see. It feels good to be able to help. You're doing it for your own community and club.”

With her daring leap behind her, Aine isn’t ruling out future adventures.

“If something comes up, I won’t say no. ‘No’ isn’t in my vocabulary,” she added.

The funds raised will go towards building a much-needed community space in Ederney, a cause that clearly resonated with locals, who rallied behind Aine’s bold and generous gesture.
