Council invites public feedback on draft Age Friendly Strategy and Action Plan

Sunday 7 September 2025 10:00

FERMANAGH and Omagh District Council has launched a public consultation on its draft Age Friendly Strategy and Action Plan, inviting residents and organisations to help shape a more inclusive and supportive environment for older people across the district.

This is the second Age Friendly Strategy for the area, building on the achievements of the previous plan. It aims to place older people at the heart of an Age Friendly society - ensuring their voices are heard and their needs supported so they can remain healthy, active, and connected within their communities.

The strategy has been developed by the Age Friendly Alliance and informed by extensive community engagement, including a district-wide survey that received 925 responses from individuals aged 50 and over. A series of focus groups with older residents also helped shape the priorities and actions outlined in the draft.

The council is now seeking further input from the public to ensure the strategy reflects the lived experiences and aspirations of older people in the district.
