THE Ulster Special Constabulary Historical Platoon took to the stage at the Strule Arts Centre in March 2025 for a sold-out performance that was as moving as it was memorable.

The play, a vivid reenactment of the attempted raid on St Lucia Barracks in 1954, brought history to life while raising vital funds for the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice.

The evening was enriched with music from the Moneyslane Flute Band and heartfelt moments led by compère William Sayers, who guided the audience in a powerful rendition of the beloved hymn “Jesus Loves Me.”

Together, the performers and audience created an atmosphere of gratitude, remembrance, and unity.

This special event had been first planned back in 2020 as a thank-you fundraiser for the exceptional care given to Andrew McFarland from Trillick.

Though postponed due to the pandemic, it was lovingly rescheduled in 2025 in Andrew’s memory, following his passing in 2022.

The generosity of all who purchased tickets, sponsored, or donated shone through on the night, with a remarkable total of £8,351.64 raised for the Children’s Hospice.

Organisers, performers, and supporters alike expressed their deep appreciation for the community’s kindness, ensuring Andrew’s legacy lives on in the comfort and care that will be provided to children and families who need it most.
