Speed measuring device installed outside Newtownstewart primary school

A SPEED reading device has been installed outside a primary school in Newtownstewart in response to speeding concerns.

Derry and Strabane Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) has confirmed the temporary Speed Indicator Device (SID) has been installed outside Newtownstewart Model Primary School on Baronscourt Road.

The PSCP says the device is an important took in measuring the speed of vehicles in areas of concern to see if more enforcement action is needed.

A spokesperson said: "These devices aim to encourage drivers to adhere to the speed limit and if a speeding hotspot is identified, we will ask police to follow this up with enforcement

“If you have concerns about speeding in a particular location, please contact Derry & Strabane PCSP and we will get a SID placed there as soon as possible.
