OMAGH is set for a major economic boost as Sainsbury’s confirms plans for a brand new £12 million 50,000 sq ft supermarket at the Great Northern Retail Park, creating over 100 new jobs when it opens next year.

The development marks a significant investment in the local area, transforming the former Homebase and House Proud units into a spacious, modern supermarket that will bring greater choice and convenience to shoppers across the region.

A full planning application has now been submitted to Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, marking another key step forward in the project. The retailer has already hosted a public consultation event at the former Homebase site, giving residents the chance to view plans and share feedback.

The move underlines Sainsbury’s confidence in Omagh’s growth and vitality, with the new store set to feature a wide range of food, household, and general goods, along with ample parking and easy access for customers.

A spokesperson for Sainsburys said: "We are pleased to confirm that our planning applications are currently under consideration by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council.
