Rudolph Run ready to hoof it!

THE Rudolph Run - now in its 15th year- is set to kick off the festive season.

Preparations are well under way for the event this Saturday at Eskra Community Centre from 12 noon.

Entries have been flying in over the past number of weeks with another large turnout expected.

The popular festive event, organised by Knockmany Running Club and Eskra Community Association, includes the 10k race and 5k run/walk with all runners, families and walkers made very welcome.

This year the prize money has been boosted to over £1,600 with enhanced prizes in 5k categories.

There will be 10k pacers for anyone targeting specific times.

Knockmany Running Club members will be pacing for 40,45,50,55 and 60 minutes.

Also the 10k team event for male and female teams has additional cash prizes.

A spokesperson from the organising committee said: "We would urge everyone to enter online as the Rudolph Run has been inundated by entries this year.

"Supply of beanie hats will run out. Online entries remain open until Thursday, December 4.

"As this is the 15th year anniversary, there will be an unique beanie hat to collect. Participants will be able to collect their race packs this Friday evening 7.30pm to 9pm and from 10am to 11 am on race morning at Eskra Community Centre.

"Limited late registration is available on race day.

"Parking is available in close proximity to the Community Centre with stewards in attendance. Arrive in plenty of time as a big turnout is expected.

"As always there are plenty of cash prizes on offer with over 40 different prizes for individual and 10k team event, not forgetting the course record prizes.

"The Rudolph Run has become renowned across the country for its hospitality with the usual hot soup, sandwiches and treats for everyone to enjoy in the hall after the race."

The Rudolph Run’s chosen charity is Care for Cancer which supports the community of Omagh and its surrounding areas helping to support cancer patients, their careers and families in the local area.
