HOME-Start Omagh District will be hosting an event on 'Parenting young children up to 5 in the digital era: Practical things we can do to prioritise a play-based childhood'.

"We would love to invite you to attend this event and be part of the conversation, report on the event and take photos," said a spokesperson.

The event will be on Tuesday, March 3 from 8pm to 9pm with refreshments at 7.45pm in the Silverbirch Hotel, Courtyard Room, Gortin Road, Omagh.

This workshop is fully funded by Seed Funding via WHSCT and is open to all parents, carers, and those who work/volunteer with young children in the Omagh district.

"We are bringing together leading authorities in clinical healthcare and the early years space to provide current research, statistics, advice, strategies, tools and recommendations on how to parent young children in this current digital climate we are all navigating right now.

“The world has shifted quickly into a digital landscape, and as parents and those who work/volunteer with children, we are navigating a rapidly changing world," said the spokesperson.

“This workshop will provide talks from a paediatric OT, Speech Therapist and Forest School Leader as well as representatives from Smart Phone Free Childhood Northern Ireland (Smartphone Free Childhood) and a Play Consultant.

“This will be a free, safe, non-judgemental space, for professionals working with children aged 0-5, alongside families, to come together at a grassroots level in our local area.

“We want the attendees to gain information and advice on how to navigate the digital landscape and leave with tools and strategies and a desire to provide an early childhood focused on real-life experiences and play as much as possible.”
