94-YEAR-OLD Lily Hawkes from Ranelly, Omagh, has been knitting chicks for charity for 25 years.
In those 25 years, she has made over £30,000, which has all gone to local charities such as Marie Curie, Care for Cancer, Alzheimers Society, Motor Neurone Disease and many more.
It takes her approximately 1.5 hours to knit each individual chick, and that doesn't include sewing them together and adding eyes, beak and bows detail.
Also, in her busiest year, she knitted up to 2,000 chicks. She knits them all year round to have enough for Easter and makes approximately 1,000-plus a year.
She even selflessly insists her family buy her the creme and caramel eggs for inside them as birthday presents each February, so as much money as possible can go to the chosen charities.
Lily said it keeps her mind and hands active when she's at home each day.
