Cannabis factory uncovered in Omagh house as police seize £130,000 worth of drugs

POLICE in Omagh have uncovered what they have described as a cannabis “factory” operating inside a residential property, seizing drugs with an estimated street value of £130,000.

Officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland made the discovery on Saturday, after receiving a report of suspicious activity at a house in the Dunmullan Road area of the town.

Detective Sergeant Malone said police received the report at approximately 2.40pm.

“Officers attended and subsequently carried out a search of the house, uncovering a large number of cannabis plants in the attic, along with herbal cannabis with a total overall approximate street value of £130,000,” he said.

The scale of the cultivation has led investigators to treat the property as a cannabis factory rather than a small personal grow operation.

No arrests have been made at this stage, but police have confirmed that enquiries are ongoing.

Detective Sergeant Malone appealed to the public for assistance. Anyone with information that could help the investigation is asked to contact police on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 904 28/02/26.

Information can also be provided online via the PSNI’s non-emergency reporting form or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
