Junior parkrun marks 100th milestone event

Monday 2 March 2026 12:35

OMAGH Leisure Complex junior parkrun celebrated its 100th event on Sunday, February 22.

Eighty-four juniors turned out for the free community event to run, walk or jog their way around a 2km route around the running track and into Arleston Park.

Eighteen of these finishers set a new personal best time for the route, and six juniors made this their very first junior parkrun event.

All finishers were rewarded with chocolate milk, cake and sweets, all generously donated by supporters of the event.

Omagh Leisure Complex junior parkrun started in January 2024 and had attracted over 750 juniors in that time.

Junior parkrun is a weekly free event for anyone aged between four to 14 years-old, and is aimed at encouraging movement and social connection in a friendly and inclusive environment.

A spokesperson said: "Taking place at 9.30am every Sunday morning from Omagh Leisure Complex we welcome newcomers, visitors and regulars.

"The event is made possible thanks to the generous efforts of a team of volunteers and new helpers are always appreciated.
