GIRLS from Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers gathered alongside their dedicated leaders, Trefoil Guild members and proud family members for a special Thinking Day Service.
The service, marking the centenary of World Thinking Day, was a joyful tribute to a century of faith, friendship, service and adventure.
The celebration began with a colourful parade from the church hall to the church, setting a proud and uplifting tone for the afternoon. Flag bearers formed a guard of honour as the colours were received during the opening hymn - a moving moment that reflected both tradition and unity.
During his epilogue, Rev Graham Hare shared an inspiring reflection on Judges 4:4–16 and the story of Deborah. He highlighted three powerful qualities - Calling, Character and Courage - and spoke of how Deborah’s faithful leadership continues to inspire young women today. His message resonated deeply with the guiding ethos of empowering girls to lead with confidence and integrity.
District Commissioner Sharon Fannin warmly thanked everyone who contributed to the service before saying Grace ahead of refreshments in the Parish Hall, where laughter and conversation continued the celebrations.
Those attending described the afternoon as a meaningful and uplifting way to honour 100 years of World Thinking Day - a moment to reflect on the past while looking confidently to the future.
World Thinking Day connects Girlguides and Girl Scouts across the globe through the work of World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS). For a century, generations of young members have paused on this special day to reflect on their Promise, their shared values, and their global sisterhood.
And in Mid Ulster, that spirit is very much alive.
Girlguiding Mid Ulster District continues to show girls aged 4 to 18 a world of possibilities - a place where they can laugh, learn, try new things and, most importantly, be themselves. It’s a community where every girl knows she belongs.
As the district celebrates this remarkable centenary, the message is clear: the guiding spirit in Omagh is thriving.
Here’s to the next 100 years of friendship, adventure and making a difference.
