THE spirit of community was on full display on Saturday as Omagh Academicals Rugby Football Club hosted its inspiring ‘Walk for Jamie’ event, raising vital funds for Motor Neurone Disease research.
Hundreds of participants from the Accies family and beyond gathered at Gortin Glen Forest Park before setting off on a scenic climb up Mullaghcarn to visit the iconic Darach the Giant. The atmosphere was filled with positivity, unity, and determination as people of all ages walked side by side for a shared cause.
From minis and players to families, friends, and supporters, the turnout was a powerful reminder that this was about far more than rugby-it was about standing together for one of their own, Jamie, and supporting a cause that touches many lives.
Organisers have expressed heartfelt thanks to everyone who made the day such a success - from those who planned and volunteered, to those who laced up their boots and took part, and all who donated so generously. The overwhelming support has meant so much to Jamie and his family.
The event captured the Accies community at its very best: inclusive, compassionate, and united in making a difference.
Donations are still open for those who wish to contribute and support ongoing research, ensuring the impact of this special day continues long after the final was taken. The link is: pay.sumup.com/b2c/Q23LRFI2
