IT was a tense and hard-fought Junior Cup clash between Omagh and Dromore, with both sides battling fiercely from the first whistle to the last.
Omagh’s Elliott was first to step up with a penalty opportunity but was unable to convert his initial attempt. Undeterred, he soon rediscovered his kicking form and slotted his next chance to bring the first points on the score board shortly after Dromore answered with a penalty of their own taking it to 3-3.
The remainder of the first half was a tight contest, with both defences standing firm and no further points added before the break.
After half-time, Elliott continued his solid kicking performance, adding another penalty to edge Omagh ahead.
The home side then extended their lead when Lagan crossed the whitewash for the game’s first try.
The conversion went wide, but Omagh now held an 11–3 advantage.
Dromore responded with a determined spell of pressure, eventually scoring a try of their own, though the conversion attempt was unsuccessfulbringing the visitors back within three points at 11–8.
In a dramatic finale, Dromore were awarded a late penalty that could have levelled the match.
The kick however struck the post and Omagh cleared their lines just before the final whistle to secure a narrow but deserved victory.
Final score: Omagh - 11 Dromore - 8.
Elsewhere, the Omagh’s second string produced a dominant display in their fixture, running out emphatic winners over Rainey 2XV.
The home side’s attacking flair was on full show as they crossed for nine tries in total.

Rainey managed a consolation try, but it was Omagh who controlled proceedings throughout.
Final score: Omagh 2XV - 59 Rainey 2XV - 5.
Omagh 4XV also had a win on Friday night at home as the welcomed Enniskillen 3XV with a full time score of 19-10.
