'Beragh 5' returns for 2023

Sunday 26 February 2023 13:00

THE Beragh 5 Mile Road Race and 5K walk/run is set to return on Easter Saturday.

Hundreds of runners and walkers of all ages abilities are expected to once again hit the roads around the Co Tyrone village for the annual event.

Starting at 11am on April 8 from Beragh Red Knights' St Mary’s Park GAA grounds, the fully chip-timed race as always features two separate five-mile and 5K circuits.

The experienced co-ordinator behind the run, Adrian Donnelly, said: “We’re very proud of the community effort that goes into making the Beragh 5 such a well-organised and well-supported event every year.

“We have top class facilities here at our pavilion in St Mary’s Park and runners and walkers can be assured of a good spread of food and refreshments afterwards.

“We are once again grateful to our many sponsors and volunteers who make this event possible.”

The nominated charity for the 2023 run is the Beragh and Sixmilecross Community First Responders.

Steel fabrication specialist Capital Reinforcing and Tallon’s Pharmacy, Sixmilecross, are this year’s headline sponsors.

The entry fee for the five mile run is £12 and £8 for the 5K, which includes chip-timing. Five-mile runners will also receive a limited edition T-shirt, with head buffs for 5K participants.

Entrants are encouraged to register online via bit.ly/Beragh5.
