Omagh Futsal Club win first major title

OMAGH Futsal Club met Newry City Futsal in the final of the Northern Ireland Futsal Federation National Shield on Sunday.

It was both teams' first-ever time reaching a national final.

Omagh came out the stronger side going ahead with a Zach Ferson strike in the seventh minute.

A David Fulton strike gave Omagh a 2-1 lead at half-time.

Newry came back strongly in the second half leading 3-2 right up until the last kick of the match with a Lee McMenemy equaliser sending the game into extra time.

With the wind in their sails Omagh took charge of the extra time period with goals from Ryan McMenemy, and two more for Zach Ferson.
