FOURTEEN-ear-old former Omagh CBS pupil, Brandon Downey, from Tattyreagh, Fintona, has made the full-time move to Belfast as part of the Irish FA/UEFA full time residential football academy.
The academy is based at Ulster University, Jordanstown, and Brandon will continue his school studies at St Malachy's Boys Grammar School, Belfast, alongside furthering his development in a professional football environment four evenings per week.
Brandon earned this opportunity through his performances for Crusaders FC and Northern Ireland Under 16s, where he enjoyed trips to tournaments in Belgium and more recently, Portugal.
Brandon is a wide attacking player who can play on either side.
He also starred for Tyrone Premiers in the Supercup NI in July and has attracted interest from a few cross-channel clubs.
Brandon currently plays in the NIFL for Crusaders FC under 18s.
Congratulating Brandon, a spokesperson from Omagh CBS said: "Former pupil Brandon Downey paid a visit to the school to say his goodbyes before he moves to Belfast as part of the Irish FA JD Residential Academy based at the Ulster University, Jordanstown.
"Brandon will continue his studies at St Malachy's College alongside furthering his development in a professional football environment at the academy.
"Brandon earned this opportunity through his performances for Crusaders FC and Northern Ireland U16s.While we are sad to see Brandon leave the school after three years we wish him every success in the future!"
