Charlie finishes Ulster Championship season in style

Saturday 18 October 2025 14:00

SATURDAY, October 11, saw the final round of the Ulster Karting Championship held at the Nutt’s Corner Circuit.

Ballygawley 'Bullet' Charlie Condy and his team were there to finish off what has been a remarkable season of racing.

As usual, Charlie made the journey on Friday evening to get a few laps of practice in and have the kart checked over.

Saturday was cold but dry, with temperatures remaining fairly consistent throughout the day.

In Heat One, Charlie started in sixth place and quickly made his way up to first within a few laps, taking a comfortable win.

In Heat Two, Charlie again had a strong grid spot, starting in fourth place.

He made his way up the order quickly, taking third place after just four corners.

Following an incident, a yellow flag and a Battenburg flag were waved, slowing everyone to single file.

Once racing resumed, Charlie didn’t waste any time making his moves and securing his second win of the day.

In Heat Three, Charlie started in tenth place. Unfortunately, going into turn one, he received a bump and spun out.

Thankfully, everything was okay and Charlie was able to continue. Rejoining the race in 16th and last place, he had plenty of work to do to secure a good grid spot for the final.

Charlie drove brilliantly, setting the fastest lap of the race and climbing up to sixth at the finish line, later promoted to fifth after penalties.

In the dinal, Charlie started on pole position. He didn’t put a foot wrong throughout the race, leading from the start, pulling away and taking the win by nearly two seconds.

Speaking after the race, Charlie said: "This has been a brilliant end to the championship.

"I would like to thank my mum Jill and dad Ivor, Nathan Glen for his help and guidance, my Sodi team and all the new friends I’ve made.

"A massive thank you to all my sponsors for making this happen - this has been a brilliant year."

A spokesperson for CC Racing added:"I'm not sure, but Charlie must have set a record this season.

"He is one of the youngest junior drivers on the grid and continues to race like a 16-year-old.

"He has taken six wins in the last seven races and came second in the one he didn’t win.

"This has been an amazing journey for everyone involved with the team and Charlie Condy Racing."
